Elliot will respond by taking a photo of himself on what looks to be an ikea-quality, but human bed, giving a very unimpressed B| face, his cat ears tilted down against his hair.
And yes he sure is wearing some t-shirt with a music pun because of course he is.]
[Oh, he's actually laughing. That does a lot to ease Elliot's salt, since it's such a nice sound]
Yeah, yeah. I'll have you know I made sure it was my first purchase because I knew you'd ask about it.
[So there you go Rean, you had an influence]
Three students: Varian, Hunter and Arthur. Varian and Hunter aren't from around here but they're both overachievers - so I think some guided history lessons would help them a lot.
As for Arthur, he's from here, but he's always struggled in the normal classroom setting and lately there seems to be something going on with him that's been making it more of a struggle - so I think he'd really benefit from a tutor that can focus on him.
[And no one helicopters like Rean does that's for sure]
Really? I'm glad I had some good influence on you, at least!
[He sounds pretty genuine about that. Seems like he actually HAS been worried about Elliot's sleeping situation, teasing aside.]
Hm, okay. I know Hunter, and if Varian's anything like him... yeah, that sounds about right. Haven't really interacted with Arthur, but I'm happy to help out if he needs a little more personal time.
[Rean is The Helicopter Parent, it's true. These kids are about to find that out.]
I'm guessing I should probably just cover basic world history unless they're interested in any periods in particular?
[There's some shuffling sounds in the background, like Rean's rifling through looking for something. Whatever he's moving around has a bit of weight to it, from the sounds of it - maybe books?]
[Who knows, maybe if it wasn't for Rean's words of encouragement when they were kids, he really would've gone through enlisting in the military - and hated every second of his life for it]
Ehehe, if you can believe it, I think Hunter is more laidback one of the two. Varian is...well, you'll see soon enough! [Prepare yourself]
Basic world history is a good start! Varian is from the 1820's, so catching him up on the last few centuries would be good. Oh, and any LGBTAQ+ history too! He just learned about that from August, so he's gonna be really curious!
The other two you can go with any topics in history, though both of of them have interest in magic and stuff. Oh and if Hunter says anything that's...a little alarming, just try to move past it. He tends to shut down if you confront him directly.
[Rean is fully incapable of actually registering that as the truth, but he moves along smoothly enough.]
Oh, jeez, really? I definitely have my work cut out for me, then. Good thing I like a challenge. [He actually does sound pretty excited about this, if a bit distracted. Then Elliot continues:] Okay, recent centuries and everything from Stonewall onward... let's see...
[There's some more sounds of digging, then a little "ah!" of victory. A couple of shuffling sounds later and Rean's back fully.]
Yeah, I've... made attempts with Hunter before, so I think I know what I'm getting into with him. Magic's going to be a little more difficult, but maybe I can try out that Undertown place? I've still got my old textbooks here and I found a few that might be worth pulling from, but maybe they've got some on the history of magic.
...Or maybe I'm just interested in that for my own sake, but it can't hurt, right? Haha...
[Elliot can pick up how excited Rean sounds, and is just sitting on his end with his chin in his hand, and a fond smile on his face. ]
Yup, I get students from anywhere and anywhen it seems. And don't feel you have to go easy on Varian either. He managed to withstand condensed concert prep with me with minimal complaint, so he's made of pretty tough stuff!
[Because seriously surviving Elliot's Music Mania on the most intense setting deserves a medal or something]
I'd say check Undertown! It can't hurt, like you said. Wish I knew more resources, but when it comes to history stuff you really are the expert between us. [Unless it's music history, Elliot's retention for this stuff was limited ok
As for Hunter...]
Yeah, he really did feel bad about how that conversation went. He's a good kid, he's just...dealing with a lot. [To say the least. But uh, might as well own up-] He's actually staying with me now.
In his own room. My new place has multiple rooms and everything, promise.

[His teasing smile is actually audible.]

Oh, good! I'm glad to see it. Now I can rest easy without fear for your spine.
[Sorry, Elliot, Rean can't take your anger seriously when you're all cute with the flat kitty ears.]
Okay, okay. Seriously, though - yeah, I'm interested. What are the details?
